Jean A. Morningstar Kerns, 92, of Bellefontaine, passed away Saturday, July 21, 2018, at Green Hills Community.
Jean was born April 28, 1926, in Lima, to the late Ray and Martha Maurine Williams Morningstar.
On April 7, 1946, she married Leon Kerns in Lima. He preceded her in death June 15, 2013. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Jim Morningstar.
She is survived by three children, Linda (Jim) Hilliker and Susan (Rodney) Allen, both of Bellefontaine, and Tom (Bertie) Kerns of Springfield, Tenn., seven grandchildren, Tiffany (Shawn) Wilcoxon, Britt (Jim) Gravley; Hannah (Ben) Jernigan, Matt Kerns; Cody (Dana) Allen, Heath (Jackie) Allen and Morgan (fiancé Craig Boling Jr.) Allen; five great-grandchildren, Maggie (fiancé Luke Heath) Wilcoxon, Mac and Hayden Gravley and Braidynn, Aben and Asher Jernigan.
She worked at DAB Industries for 30 years and attended Ohio State University and Ohio Northern University in the evenings. She thoroughly enjoyed and was active in the Friendship Circle of King’s Daughters and her bridge club.
She and her husband, Leon, attended the Ohio State football games at home and away from 1946 until no longer physically able to, and remained fervent fans. They also traveled extensively through the years with family and friends.
She was a loving mother, wife and grandmother. She loved music and art and people.
She was a lifelong member of the Lutheran Church, first in Lima, then in Bellefontaine.
A memorial service begins at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, at the First Lutheran Church in Bellefontaine Burial follows in Bellefontaine Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Green Hills Community, 6557 S. U.S. Route 68, West Liberty, OH 43357; and the First Lutheran Church, 208 W. Sandusky Ave., Bellefontaine, OH 43311.
