James Richard Grandstaff, 95, of DeGraff, passed away at 8:20 p.m. Monday, Dec. 26, 2016, at Logan Acres Care Center in Bellefontaine.
He was born in Woodstock on Oct. 2, 1921, to the late Roy L. and Ollie Marie McGuire Grandstaff.
On June 29, 1941, he married his wife of 75 years, Lura Mae Miller, and she survives; along with their two children, Lucinda Holycross of DeGraff and Ronald (Becky) Grandstaff of Huntsville; four grandchildren, Douglas (Jenni) Grandstaff, Matthew (Lori) Grandstaff, Shawn (Jaime) Holycross and Ryan (Stacey) Holycross; and nine great-grandchildren.
A lifetime farmer, Jim served in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1945 during World War II. He was a 73-year member of the DeGraff United Methodist Church, a member of American Legion Post 652, Boggs Lodge 292 F&AM, Constance Chapter 78 and 459, and the Logan County Farm Bureau.
Pastor Michael Mitchell officiates a funeral service at noon Friday, Dec. 30, at the Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, 210 W. Hayes St., DeGraff, where calling is an hour prior to the service.
Burial is in Greenwood-Union Cemetery in DeGraff.
