H. Eugene Boogher, 98, of Wapakoneta, passed away at 6 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2016, at The Gardens in Wapakoneta.
He was born in 1918 to the late Herbert and Emma Metz Boogher. He was preceded in death by his wife, Anita Cox Boogher.
He is survived by two children, Sally (Dan) McTish and Alan (Lynne) Boogher; two grandchildren, Ryan (Anna) McTish and Adam (Caroline) McTish; and two stepgrandchildren, Michele Bruewer and James “Kirk” Bruewer.
Gene was a 1934 graduate of Blume High School in Wapakoneta and then graduated from Capital University with a degree in business, four years later. He worked with his father at A.G. Boogher and Son until his father’s death in 1954. He continued to run the business until 1985, when his son, Alan came in as a partner. He officially retired from the business in 1998.
Gene was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Montra. He was a former bank director for Peoples National Bank and Fifth Third Bank and was a former member of Wapakoneta Eagles Aerie 691.
He loved watching Ohio State football and basketball and the Cincinnati Reds.
Pastor David Sanders begins funeral services at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 2, 2017, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 17714 Montra Road, Jackson Center. Visitation is 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 1, at Shoffstall Funeral Home North Chapel, 115 N. Main St., Lakeview, and one hour prior to services at the church. Burial is in Greenlawn Cemetery, Wapakoneta.
Memorial contributions may be given in his name to Emmanuel Lutheran Church and St. Rita’s Hospice.
