James R. “Jim” Weaver, 67, of Neptune, died peacefully Friday, Sept. 22, 2017, while at home.
He was born Oct. 29, 1949, in Chicago, Ill., to the late Oak and Helen Riha Weaver. On April 25, 2009, he married Shelia Wise Watkins, who survives, along with his children, James (Chris) Weaver of Celina and Rose Weaver of Ft. Wayne, Ind.; his stepchildren, Roger Watkins and Steve Herring, both of Orlando, Fla., Bob (Jennifer) Watkins of Marian, Va., and Jeremy (Cherie) Jackson and Mathew Jackson, both of Mendon; his brothers, Vic Weaver of Dayton and Gregory (Maureen) Karnauch of Crossville, Tenn.; and eight grandchildren.
Also preceding him in death were a sister, Trula Randall; stepson, Scott Jackson; and stepdaughter, Shelly Riley.
Jim graduated from Celina High School in 1967. He honorably served his country in the United States Army During the Vietnam War. He attended the Monticello United Brethren Church in Spencerville. He retired from CTI as a telephone contractor after 33 years and worked at Grand Lake Guns for 10 years. He was a member of the Celina Eagles, a life member of the Celina VFW Post 5713, Mercer County Sportsman’s Association, NRA and the National Muzzleloading Rifle Association. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, hunting and shooting, watching cowboy and western movies and talking about antique guns.
A memorial service
begins at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept., 28, at the Lehman-Dzendzel Funeral Home in Celina, with Rev. Andrew Atkins officiating. Burial will follow in North Grove Cemetery in Celina, with military honors provided by the Celina American Legion and Celina VFW. The family will receive friends from 1 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 27, at the funeral home. A VFW servicee begins at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
