Indian Lake’s boys basketball attempted to make a fourth-quarter comeback against host Urbana, but the Hillclimbers were able to hold on for a 66-60 Central Buckeye Conference win.
The Lakers have lost three straight and fall to 8-10 on the season and 3-4 in the CBC Mad River. The Hillclimbers jump to 5-7, 2-5.
Urbana jumped out to a 15-10 lead after the opening quarter and edged Indian Lake 16-15 in the second quarter. That put the Hillclimbers on top 31-25 at halftime.
In the third quarter, Urbana was able to extend its lead with a 21-14 run. That made it a 52-39 cushion.
Indian Lake found a late spark in the fourth quarter and made a 21-14 run, but it wasn’t enough to take over the lead.
Zander Barnes fueled the Lakers efforts with 23 points, Caleb Wurster had 13 points, while Caden Nicol and Luke Jackson both had eight points.
In junior varsity action, Urbana topped Indian Lake 54-44. Maddux Hall led the Lakers with 11 points.
Indian Lake travels to Northwestern today for a Central Buckeye Conference Mad River makeup game.
