West Liberty-Salem’s boys basketball team picked up a 52-42 win over host West Jefferson on Tuesday in Ohio Heritage Conference play.
The Tigers bump their record to 10-7 overall and 7-5 in the OHC standings, while the Roughriders drop to 3-12, 2-11.
It was West Jefferson that started out Tuesday’s game in the driver’s seat. The Roughriders grabbed a 21-10 lead to end the first quarter. However, the Tigers were able to go on a 13-2 run in the second quarter to tie the game 23-23 at halftime.
WL-Salem outscored West Jefferson 13-11 in the third quarter to take a 36-34 advantage. The Tigers then used a 16-8 run in the final period to earn the win.
Nick Burden sparked the Tigers with 14 points, Tanner LeVan totaled 12 points, Owen Johnson tallied nine points and Logan Saylor added seven points.
In junior varsity play, WL-Salem edged West Jefferson 31-29. Logan Phillips and Andre Jones both paced the Tigers with eight points and Owen Deere had seven points.
WL-Salem hosts Mechanicsburg on Friday for its next OHC contest.
