Indian Lake’s boys basketball team couldn’t keep up with host Wapakoneta in the second half Saturday as the Redskins pulled away for a 63-45 win in a season opener.
The Redskins finished the opening quarter ahead 15-11, but saw the Lakers match them 13-13 in the second quarter. That left Wapakoneta ahead 28-24 at halftime.
In the third quarter, Wapak outscored Indian Lake 13-9 to build a 41-33 advantage. The Redskins closed out the win with a 22-12 run in the fourth quarter.
Caiden Nicol led the Lakers with nine points, Lukas Schwieterman tallied eight points and Caleb Wurster added seven points.
In junior varsity action, Wapakoneta defeated Indian Lake 58-24. Lane Tucci led the Lakers with six points.
Indian Lake hosts Northwestern on Friday for a Central Buckeye Conference Mad River contest.
