Three illegal immigrants — two with multiple immigration infractions and one with a warrant for his arrest — were arrested Wednesday along with the Columbus man driving the vehicle they were located in.
Officers of the Washington Township Police Department patrolling in the area of U.S. Route 33 and Township Road 94 at about 11 p.m. stopped a pickup truck for speeding.
The driver, who was later identified as Jonathan Medina, 29, of Columbus, refused to identify himself as did the man riding in the passenger seat and two men reportedly hiding under a blanket in the bed of the truck.
The three men were later identified as Andres Perez, 30, Isaac Perez, 31, and Ivan Ventura, 26, all of Mexico. Andres and Isaac Perez have reportedly been deported by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement three times prior, while Ventura has an active warrant out of Delaware County, officers report.
Medina was charged with obstructing official business.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office and troopers of the Ohio State Highway patrol assisted at the scene.
