A proposed rezoning request to allow a developer to build covered boat docks on a two-acre site in the Indian Lake Shores area will not proceed further.
IL Shore Holdings LLC has withdrawn its request so the Richland Township Trustees will not have to take action.
On March 19, the Richland Township Zoning Board voted 5-0 not to recommend a request to rezone the R-2 residential district to a business district.
Without IL Shore’s withdrawal, the trustees would have had to consider the request and decide whether or not to accept the zoning board’s recommendation.
The plans to build 46 docks and a parking lot drew the ire of Indian Shores and Long Island residents who feared such spot zoning would open the northeast sector of Indian Lake to unwanted commercial development.
Hundreds of residents attended the March 19 meeting at the Memorial Building in Belle Center.
