Indian Lake’s girls basketball team gritted out a 40-35 win over host Benjamin Logan on Thursday in a nail-bitting Central Buckeye Conference game.
The Lakers and Raiders were tied 35-35 with a minute left to play when Indian Lake’s Allison Kinney drained a three pointer with 30 seconds to go and put her team up 38-35.
Teammate Kayli Tussing nailed a pair of free throws with two seconds left to make it a 40-35 final.
The win moves the Lakers to 3-2 overall and 1-2 in the CBC Mad River division. The Raiders drop their second straight and move to 2-2, 2-1.
Indian Lake led 8-2 after the opening quarter, but Ben Logan rallied in the second quarter to take an 11-10 lead with 3:37 to go in the half. The Raiders would take the quarter 13-4 and carry a 15-12 lead into halftime.
Ben Logan edged Indian Lake in the third quarter 10-9 to maintain a 25-21 advantage.
However, the fourth quarter belonged to Indian Lake.
The Lakers found an offensive surge to outscore the Raiders 19-10 in the final period. The game was tied three different times before Indian Lake eventually pulled ahead in the final minute.
Kinney led the Indian Lake offense with 14 points, Stephanie Altstaetter had 13 points and Tussing added eight points.
Kennedy Parker led Ben Logan’s efforts with 11 points, while Kayla Reeves, Cheyanne Parker and Kayla Horney all had six points.
In junior varsity action, Ben Logan dropped Indian Lake 41-24.
Mya Burrey and Cheyanne Peterson led the Raiders with nine points each and Kiley Daniels added six points.
For the Lakers, Meadow McCullough had seven points and Savannah Hill scored five points.
Both teams are back on the court Saturday in CBC action. Ben Logan travels to Graham, while Indian Lake travels to Urbana.
