During a recent regular meeting, Fire Chief Tim Jenkins informed Huntsville Village Council members that the fire department has received a grant for $10,000 to be used for personal protective equipment.
PPE includes helmets, masks, boots or other garments used to protect firefighters and rescue workers.
As street superintendent, Mr. Jenkins said the annual village clean-up went well, adding eight Dumpsters were used to haul off collections. Some tires that were dropped off cannot be taken to the landfill. Jamie Beaver, a resident in attendance, offered to dispose of them for the village.
In other matters, council directed the clerk to send letters of ordinance violations to property owners in regard to overgrown yards.
Logan County Sheriff’s Deputy Doug Mitchell informed council that the grant for the extra deputy in the Huntsville area has expired, but patrol will continue through the summer.
Community garage sales are June 11 and 12, with the $5 permit fee waived.
The next regular meeting is at 7 p.m. June 14.
