Herbert V. Baxley, 85, of East Liberty, passed away Thursday, July 28, 2016 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
Born June 3, 1931, in East Liberty, he was the son of the late George Nelson and Nellie Irene (LeVan) Baxley. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Robert Baxley.
On Oct. 4, 1969, at the Church of Christ in East Liberty, he married Ardella (Tignor) and she survives in East Liberty. Also surviving are his children, Nelson (Debbie) Baxley of East Liberty, Tracey (Shelly) Baxley of West Mansfield and Stacy (Scott) Faller of Fairborn; grandchildren, Kelly, Casey, Kelby, Jenna and Justin; great-grandchildren, Hayden, Evelyn and Kinsley; and a sister, Katherine Wilgus of Findlay.
A man of great faith, Herb loved his time spent at the East Liberty Church of Christ where he was a faithful member. He enjoyed watching old westerns, hunting and fishing, but he truly loved riding his Harley Davidson, riding through town on his tractors and his beloved dogs.
A 1950 graduate of Perry Zane High School, Herb first worked 13 years for the New York Central Railroad then went to work at Dennison Hydraulics as a tool grinder. He retired in 2010 when it became Parker.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 1, at the East Liberty Cemetery with Dr. Jason Robson officiating. In keeping with Herb’s wishes, no calling hours will be observed.
