The Logan County Health District has secured a $120,000 Environmental Protection Agency Grant to help low income households with the repair or replacement of failing private sewage treatment systems for owner-occupied properties, as previously reported in the Examiner.
Applications are currently being accepted from qualified households, which will receive a various levels funding based upon their incomes.
For households that are at or below the 2015 federal poverty level, the cost of the sewage system repair or replacement will be covered 100 percent. For a family of up to four people, the poverty guideline is $24,250, or add $4,160 for each additional person.
Households that are between 100 to 200 percent of the 2015 federal poverty level will receive 85 percent funding. For a family of up to four people, that poverty guideline is $48,500, or add an additional $4,160 for each person.
Finally, 50 percent project funding is available for households between 200 and 300 percent of the federal poverty level, which is $72,750 for a family of up to four people.
