FULMER |
BHS junior seeded first, third for tonight’s finals
A state title is within reach for sensational Bellefontaine swimmer Amy Fulmer.
The Chieftain junior had the fastest preliminary time in the 100 freestyle during the first day of the Division II state swim meet Thursday in Canton.
The top eight swimmers in each event qualified to today’s finals, while the next eight earned spots in the B final.
Competing in her third state meet, Fulmer came in with the second-fastest qualifying time in the 100 freestyle behind Mariemont’s Cora Dupre. Fulmer took runner-up to Dupre in last week’s district meet.
In Thursday’s state prelims, Fulmer recorded a time of 50.28.
Dupre was the next fastest in 51.08.
“Amy had a great day of swimming at prelims,” said BHS head coach Sharon Lewis. “She put together all the pieces we had worked on this week and managed to swim close to her best without close competition in both races.
