Freddy R. Sheets, 82, of Belle Center, passed away Thursday, Sept.28, 2017, in Lima Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Waterloo on June 15, 1935, a son of the late Fred G. and Stella Mae Kelley Sheets. He is also preceded in death by two children, Billy Jo Sheets in 1957 and Montey Sheets in 1958, three brothers and two sisters.
On May 27, 1957, he married the former Karen Risner and she survives in Belle Center along with three children, Pam (Bryan) Lindsey, Deb (Allen) Leiter and Kris (Renae) Sheets, all of Belle Center; 12 grandchildren, Jeremy (Heather) Buck, Janna (Jason) Hunt, Jennifer (Ryan) Thornburg, Jordy (Brittany) Buck, Jandra (Connor) Hill, Michael (Jamie Day) Leiter, Kyle (Kylie Stewart) Leiter, Carly (Tyler Northeim) Leiter, Travis May, Tristan Sheets, Jody (Michael) Riegler and Bryan (Courtney) Lindsey; 16 great-grandchildren, Cora, Drake, Milah, Halle, Sydney, Kara, Kaitlynn, Taven, Carter, Cooper, Cayde, Chandlar, Carson, Aubrey, Scarlett and Bentlee; two sisters, Thelma (Norman) Lafferty of Forest and Opal (John) Shoop of Van Wert; a brother, Gary Sheets of Kenton; and many nieces and nephews.
Freddy worked as a welder and was a United States veteran, serving in the U.S. Marine Corps. He enjoyed tinkering on all things. He enjoyed mowing the grass and working on lawnmowers. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR.
Mike Phillips officiates a graveside service at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 2, at the committal building in Fairview Cemetery, Belle Center, with military honors provided by the Logan County Veterans Honor Guard.
