Guilermo Garibo, 27, of Lima, was charged Saturday with operating a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and issued traffic citations for an improper turn and marked lanes violation.
Minutes before midnight, an officer of the Bellefontaine Police Department on patrol spotted a car northbound on West Street which turned westbound in front of the officer’s westbound cruiser on Garfield Avenue.
While turning, Garibo drove into the eastbound lane before correcting and proceeding westbound. He then allowed the car to again cross the double yellow centerline which compelled the officer to make a stop.
Garibo was asked to exit the car for field sobriety tests. The officer noted Garibo stumbled as he walked from his car to the front of the police cruiser. Field sobriety tests indicated the motorist was impaired by alcohol and his breathalyzer sample was recorded at 0.177.
He was released to a sober driver.
• J.D. Crawford, 40, of 401 Clark Ave., was charged with OVI and issued citations for failure to reinstate driving privileges, failure to control and leaving the scene of a crash around 11:20 p.m. Friday.
Officers were notified of a crash in the area of Plumvalley Street and Carter Avenue in which a car had crashed into a utility pole. No one was at the scene of the crash but the registration information led officers to Crawford.
He was located at his residence and admitted to drinking alcohol, smoking marijuana and crashing his car. However, he refused to participate in sobriety testing or provide a breathalyzer sample.
He was released to his father.
• Keith L. Brown Jr., 43, of Urbana, was charged Saturday with OVI and issued a citation for a marked lanes violation.
At 2:50 a.m., an officer observed a sport utility vehicle travel through a right-turn only lane and continue straight while southbound on Main Street at Sandusky Avenue.
After crossing the intersection, the SUV nearly hit a curb at the southwest corner. The officers turned around and followed the SUV to Speedway, 329 S. Main St. and conducted a traffic stop.
Field sobriety tests indicated he was impaired by alcohol and his breathalyzer sample was recorded at 0.095.
He was released to a sober driver.
• Brent A. Johnson Jr., 23, of 208 E. Buckingham Ave., was charged Sunday with OVI and arrested on a Sidney warrant for failure to appear.
An officer on patrol spotted Johnson driving a car at 2:40 a.m. in the area of Plumvalley Street and Chillicothe Avenue. The officer drove after Johnson and watched as the suspect exited the car in an east/west alley between Seymour and Evansville streets.
Johnson ignored orders to stop and tried to walk off but was detained and handcuffed by the officer. The officer detected an odor of alcohol while interacting with Johnson.
Field sobriety tests indicated Johnson was impaired by alcohol. He did not provide a breathalyzer sample.
He was lodged in the Logan County Jail on the warrant.
Woman lodged for intoxication
Julie M. Robinson, 51, of Columbus, was arrested for public intoxication Saturday after a 12:25 a.m. incident at 320 Shady Lane.
A resident called officers to report a woman pounding on the door and yelling.
She was found heavily intoxicated in the rear yard of the residence. She was unable to provide contact information for her friend in Bellefontaine and was taken into custody.
