Local residents wanting to dispose of a U.S. flag properly will now have an around-the-clock option to do so.

Members of the American Legion Harold Kerr Post 173 dedicated a new drop box in the parking lot of the 120 Colton Ave. post on Monday evening.
The idea of a drop box, which resembles a mail box adorned with patriotic graphics, first came up a couple of years ago, Russ Strayer, past commander and member of the local color guard, said.
The legion’s board of directors originally set aside $200 to buy an old mailbox, which they planned to retrofit for their purposes but they could not find one for sale.
