FOUST |
Liberty Township Fiscal Officer Chris Foust will have to give up his position after he pleaded guilty Friday morning to one count of child endangering, a third-degree felony.
Logan County Prosecutor Eric Stewart said Ohio law prevents a person convicted of a felony from retaining a public office.
Foust, 67, of 2891 County Road 18, entered the plea on a bill of information rather than go through a grand jury and criminal prosecution in the Logan County Common Pleas General Division.
Stewart said Foust was accused of inappropriately touching a minor. The prosecutor said the victim is now 16 and the incident occurred seven years ago.
The victim disclosed the act to an aunt last year. With family along, the victim met with detectives of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office in October to report the act.
The teen was taken to Nationwide Children’s Hospital for a forensic interview and the case developed from there.
Foust will be sentenced at 9 a.m. March 15. Child endangering does not require sex offender classification.
