First Lutheran Church of Bellefontaine dedicated 137 mission quilts Sunday, Sept. 25, as displayed throughout the pews of the church, 208 W. Sandusky Ave. The quilts were among 250 quilts made in the last year. One hundred quilts were sent to Kentucky flood victims and other quilts were given out locally. It takes members of the First Lutheran Church quilters about six hours to complete each quilt, which technically, are comforters with three layers — the top, batting and a bed sheet (used for the back) are tied together with crochet thread, members noted in an Examiner story last year. For their previous effort in 2021, the group dedicated 208 mission quilts, also during a September worship service. (First Lutheran Church Photo)
