West Liberty-Salem Elementary School first-grader Harper Patton walks down the red carpet runway Friday during a 100th day of school fashion show at the school. Each first-grader decorated a shirt with 100 items they love from home. Some used stickers, googley eyes, safety pins, plastic toy bugs, pom poms, LEGOs, and shiny gemstones to describe their individuality. They showcased their hard work in the fashion show announced by their teacher. First-grade teachers include Jenny Patton, Nichole Spencer, Kristy Spring, Denies Reed and Sherrie Yoder. The 100th day of school is a celebrated and anticipated tradition each year, and teachers are able to incorporate various math, science and writing concepts using the number 100.
