Benjamin Logan High School freshman Emarie Bensman scans a QR codes from an interactive Women’s History Month board in Brooke Tuttle’s classroom to learn more about women who paved the way throughout history as politicians, scientists, athletes, artists, entrepreneurs, mathematicians and activists. As students move from the left to right on this board, they can peruse brief biographies on important women in history and then can scan the QR codes to read more about various famous women, from Susan B. Anthony to Beyoncé. “Women have always been pushed aside in history, so I like learning about all of the cool things they have done to help society,” freshman Kyra Brown said. “I like learning about the things women have been the first for, like Mae Jemison, the first black female astronaut or Gertrude Ederle, the woman who swam the English Channel,” noted fellow freshman Hayden Godwin.
