Ethel Margaret Shinkle, 93, of Bellefontaine moved into her heavenly mansion on Sunday, Jan. 1, 2017, from Green Hills Care Center, West Liberty. She was born in Columbus on Sept 11, 1923, to the late Clarence and Inez V. Chaney Shinkle. She also was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.
Ethel worked as a nurse’s aid at Mary Rutan Hospital for more than 30 years. She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Bellefontaine and a former Sunday School teacher. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and sewing; she made the majority of her own clothes, as well as dresses for the young nieces she helped raise.
Ethel is survived by several nieces and nephews, great- nieces and nephews, and great-great- nieces and nephews, some of whom she invested multiple years assisting in their daily care and rearing.
Pastor Ken Neighoff officiates a funeral service at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 5 in the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Bellefontaine, where visitation is one hour prior to the funeral. Private burial is in Lynchburg Masonic Cemetery in Lynchburg.
