Together again — Emily Ann Carter, 89, of Marysville, died Monday, Dec. 21, 2020 at the home of her daughter.
A resident of Bluebird Retirement Community, she enjoyed the camaraderie there with longtime friends and acquaintances. She also enjoyed going out to breakfast at various eateries through the years with good friends. Emily was well-known as a skilled seamstress and quilter. As her children grew, she helped with sewing cheerleader outfits, her own children’s clothes and assisted at local women’s clothing boutiques with tailoring and alterations. An accomplished quilter and hand appliquer, she liked entering her creations at the county fair and quilt shows.
She and her late husband, John, were members of the Plain City Steam Threshers Association and attended Old Timers Day every year in Raymond. They also enjoyed the Urbana antique show and flea market.
Born and raised in Huntington, W.Va., and as a teen in Apple Grove, W.Va., she graduated from Hannan High School in Ashton, W. Va. She was born July 12, 1931, to the late Malcolm Franklin and Mary Eloise Wynn Saunders.
She was also preceded in death by her husband in 2010, John Raymond Carter, Jr.; her brother, Timothy Wynn Saunders; and a great-granddaughter, MacKenzie Nicole Carter. She is survived by her four children, John Franklin (Ellen) Carter of Richwood, Gary Allen (Judy) Carter of Lakeview, Jill Elaine (Don) Hardman of Middleburg and Steven Malcolm (Priscilla) Carter of Bellefontaine; her grandchildren, Malcolm Carter, Michael Carter, Marcus (Emily) Carter, Noah (Jodie) Carter, Jensey Carter, Tucker (Blythe) Carter, Dustin (Tabitha) Hardman, Daniel (Caroline) Hardman, Jordan Elizabeth (David) Lipp and Stevie Nicole (Tyler) Wells; her great-grandchildren, Sophia, Anna, Cory, Evie, Maddy, Delaney, Vada, Layla, Nova, Abraham, Makayla, Luke, Owen and Maverick; her brother, Samuel (Belle) Saunders; her sisters-in-law, Liz Saunders and Lois Taylor; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Following cremation, the family will hold a Celebration of Life interment service in the spring at Middleburg Cemetery in tribute to both John and Emily.
