Elizabeth Jane Ammons, 94, of West Liberty, passed away Thursday evening, June 16, 2016, at Green Hills Retirement Community, West Liberty.
She was born in Lakeview on July 23, 1921, to the late Frank G. and Mary Elizabeth Wooley Kennedy.
She married Robert C. Ammons on Aug. 17, 1937, in Lakeview and he preceded her in death on June 6, 2011. She also was preceded in death by siblings, Carl D. Kennedy, Eloise Schultz and Mary Reed; half-sister, Kathryn Wilezck; son-in-law, Eugene Robinson; and grandson-in-law, KC Downing.
She is survived by her daughter, Jane Robinson of Bellefontaine; son, Bob (Brenda) Ammons of Huntsville; four grandchildren, Kevin Ammons, Dee Dee (Josh) Short, Jeff E. Robinson and Joy Lynn Downing; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Jane was a “5-Star Homemaker.” She had many hobbies, but the most enjoyable was travel. She and her husband Bob were travel trailer enthusiasts. They started traveling with a travel club but soon ventured out on their own.
Over the years, they saw every state in the U.S with a travel trailer in tow. They wintered in Florida, but all the while, their main home was in Logan County. Jane always took pride in the fact she kept Bob from getting lost when traveling. The grandchildren all have great memories about traveling with their grandparents in their camper.
Jane was proud to brag that she saw five generations of girls and five generations of boys in her family.
Pastor Gary Brown officiates a funeral at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 21, at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Crematory Center, Belle Center, where visitation is one hour prior. Burial is in Fairview Cemetery, Belle Center.
