Eileen L. Kemp, 91, of Bellefontaine, passed away Friday morning, May 6, 2016, at Heartland of Bellefontaine.
She was born in Bellefontaine on March 19, 1925, to the late Earl and Susie LeVan Carpenter. Eileen also was preceded in death by a sister, Virginia Albright; and two brothers-in-law, Marvin and Ralph Kemp.
She graduated from Zanesfield School in 1943, where she played on the basketball team. She later briefly worked at Rockwell in Bellefontaine. She was the best cook in the world and enjoyed flower gardening and watching birds.
Survivors include her husband, Arthur Kemp, whom she married Feb. 15, 1954, in Richmond, Ind.; a brother, Kenny (Libby) Carpenter of Bellefontaine; a niece, Sharon (Larry) Reames of Eloy, Ariz.; three brothers-in-law, Donald (Jane) Kemp of Sidney, John (Lottie) Kemp of Cheyenne, Wyo., and James (Geneva) Kemp of Lexington, Ky.; and two sisters-in-law, Carolyn (Tom) Moore of California and Martha Treen of Sidney.
Pastor Jeffory Willetts officiates a funeral at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 11, at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, Bellefontaine, where visitation is two hours prior. Burial is in Glen Cemetery, Port Jefferson.
