East Liberty’s Larry Adams captured his sixth feature win of the season to highlight local racing action Saturday at Shady Bowl Speedway.

It was also a memorable night for Urbana’s Mike Ward, who earned his 50th career victory.
Adams won the compact feature after jumping in front on the 11th lap. Jimmy McElfresh held on for second place, Josh Foltz was third, Scott Marquis was fourth and Ray Smith finished fifth. Adams also set the fast time, while McElfresh won the dash and Smith took the heat win.
Ward posted his milestone win in the 35-lap late model feature. Ward, who was the fast qualifier, took over on lap 22 and stayed in control the rest of the race. Brian Reeser took the runner-up spot, Jim Lewis Jr. was third, Curt Frazier came in fourth and Russ Bobb was fifth. Bobb also was a heat winner, with Kenny George Jr. winning the dash.
The modified feature got off to a rough start until fast qualifier Greg Stapleton took the lead on lap 22. Stapleton never looked back as he went on to earn his fourth feature win of the season. Chris Parker was runner-up, Jerry Stapleton was third, Perry took fourth and Brad Yelton was fifth. Jerry Stapleton won the dash with heat wins going to Perry and Chris Prater.

In street stock racing, Shawn Stansell pulled out a late win for his third victory of the season. Josh Longstreth was second, Rodney Roush was third, Mike South came in fourth and Buck Purtee was fifth. Jim Lewis Jr. was the fast qualifier, with Stansell taking the dash. Longstreth and Terry Eaton Jr. were heat winners.
Matt Jackson earned his sixth feature victory of the season by winning the tuner class in a thrilling battle. Terry Eaton Jr. finished second, while Austin Eaton was third and Corey Plunkett fourth. Jackson was the fast qualifier, with Terry Eaton Jr. winning the dash.
The pure stock feature was won by Sidney’s Rob Bryant. It was his fourth win of the season. Jason Purtee, Josh Foltz, John Eastman and David Callahan rounded out the top five. The fast qualifier was Purtee. Dash wins were recorded by Foltz and Eastman.
Justin Neace was the winner of the spectator drag races.
Racing returns to Shady Bowl on Saturday with the annual Lee Raymond Memorial for the modifieds. The feature will be 67 laps to match the number that Raymond ran in the modifieds. The street stocks, pure stocks, tuners, compacts and spectator drag races are also on the schedule. The compact division will be a non-points race. Racing will start at 7 p.m.
