Max Stambaugh, Matt Westfall and Josh Scott won their respective divisions of open-wheel racing Saturday night at Waynesfield Raceway Park.
The night’s program was dubbed the Open Wheel Showdown. The NRA Sprint Invaders made their final appearance of the season.
The Sprint Invaders feature was won by Stambaugh. He had to fight off a late charge by Jared Horstman to get the victory. J.R. Stewart took third after Stambaugh and Horstman. Jason Barney and Matt Westfall rounded out the top five. Devon Dobie and Jeff Williams picked up heat wins.
The non-wing sprints then took to the track for their 25-lap feature. Westfall fought off a battle with Lee Underwood for the victory. Luke Hall was third, Kyle Simon took fourth and Mike Miller was fifth. Landon Simon and Dustin Ingle were heat winners.
Scott, the current points leader in the modified division, continued his successful season with another feature win. Jeff Koz, Bill Keeler, Jerry Bowersock and Randy Lines filled out the rest of the top five. Matt Twining won the first B Main and Scott Williams captured the second B Main. Heat wins went to Bowersock, Brandon Vaughan, Koz and Brad Hess.
Racing returns to Waynesfield on Saturday with a full program that will include the non-wing sprints, mini-sprints, modifieds, trucks and compacts. The action begins at 7 p.m.
