Tyler M. Watkins, 25, of 501 Gunntown Road, Lot 98, was charged Saturday with assault and public intoxication after he punched a woman who was his designated driver for the evening.
Jaimee Courtney told officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department she was trying to take the suspect home from 68 Grill, 1141 S. Main St., when he struck her in the face.
Officers observed damage to her left eye and the left side of her nose was bruised.
He was located on foot in the area of Kristina Drive and was arrested.
Two face OVI charges
Bruce E. Holycross Jr., 34, of 234 Miller St., Apt. F, West Liberty, was charged Saturday with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and cited for an improper turn and a stop sign violation.
Around 1 a.m., an officer observed him make a wide turn from Richard Avenue into the center northbound lane of Main Street rather than the curb lane.
He also failed to properly turn from Main onto westbound Lake Avenue and then failed to come to a complete stop at Lake and Detroit Street.
He was stopped on Detroit. Field sobriety tests indicated he was impaired by alcohol. His breathalyzer results were 0.107.
• Kasey L. Blackburn, 34, of 433 Walker St., was charged Saturday with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and was cited for speeding, use of headlights and not using a safety belt.
She was stopped around 3:05 a.m. on Detroit Street near Maple Avenue after she was clocked at 37 mph in a 25-mph zone on south Main Street.
At the time, she was driving with her high beams on, the officer reported.
She refused to participate in sobriety tests.
