Joel Hegemier, 21, of Wapakoneta, was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and was cited for failure to control following a non-injury crash Saturday evening in Russells Point.
Officers of the Russells Point Police Department responded about 7:15 p.m. to a report of a crash at west Main Street and east Wilgus Drive.
Officers report Mr. Hegemier was operating a pickup truck and was attempting to make a right-hand turn onto Main Street from Wilgus Drive. He reportedly turned too wide and went left of center and struck a sport utility vehicle operated by Amy Book, 38, of Russells Point.
Ms. Book was accompanied by three minor children. No injuries were reported.
Officers observed that Mr. Hegemier displayed several signs of intoxication. He was asked to submit to field sobriety tests, which he failed. He was placed under arrest and was transported to the Logan County Jail, where he tested a 0.210 blood alcohol content level.
He was later released to a family member without incident.
Washington Township Police Department officers also assisted at the scene.
