Sundae Stegal, 25, of Bellefontaine, was flown by MedFlight helicopter to OSU Medical Center for treatment of incapacitating injuries sustained in a crash Thursday morning.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office report she was operating a car about 5:15 a.m. at the intersection of county roads 5 and 29. She reportedly drove from the stop sign into the path of a southbound jeep on C.R. 5 operated by James Kandel, 61, of DeGraff.
Stegal’s car continued down an embankment into a bean field before stopping. Damage was heavy on the driver’s door and mechanical means were used by West Liberty Fire Department to extract her from the vehicle.
Kandel refused transport from the scene. Both drivers were wearing their seat belts.
Macochee EMS also responded to the scene. The crash remains under investigation.
• Deputies also responded to a non-injury crash Wednesday afternoon on State Route 368 that reportedly also caused an afternoon power outage for customers in the area.
Thomas L. Christensen, 61, of Bellefontaine, was operating a northbound truck hauling a flatbed trailer containing a back hoe about 12:30 p.m. He turned into a driveway at 8651 S.R. 368 and the back hoe reportedly struck the power lines and pulled the power lines to the ground.
The driver was wearing his seat belt. No citations were listed with the crash report.
• Adam E. Helton, 40, of North Lewisburg, was cited for failure to control as a result of a non-injury crash about 10 p.m. Wednesday.
Deputies report he was operating a northwestbound pickup on State Route 559 near County Road 44 when he said he swerved to miss a deer and then went off the right side of the road, striking a utility pole.
The driver was wearing his seat belt. Damage was moderate to the pickup.
