From the left, siblings Corbin Welch, 6; Draven Ebright, 9; Maisie Ebright, 2; their parents Shyanne Cooper and James Ebright, and Piper Ebright, 10, all of Bellefontaine, work together Monday to build a “wig” for Thing 1 and Thing 2, during a celebration of Dr. Seuss’ birthday and National Read Across America Day at the Knowlton Library, 220 N. Main St. The library’s community room offered a variety of hands-on activities and art projects for children and families to explore the whimsical world of Dr. Seuss and his books. Children who stopped at the library Monday also received a free book, many of which were Dr. Seuss titles, from Green Eggs and Ham to Horton Hatches the Egg and the Cat in the Hat. As a homeschool parent, Cooper said she regularly takes her children to the library to participate in interactive activities. “We love coming here,” she said.
