Dorothy A. Martz, 84, of Huntsville, passed away Saturday, Feb. 27, 2016, at Logan Acres Senior Community, with her husband of nearly 69 years by her side.
She was born June 14, 1931, in Logan County, a daughter of the late Homer and Kathryn Ross Johnson. She also was preceded in death by sisters, Marilyn Martz, Cheryl Beech and Jacqualine Cole; and two infant great-grandsons
She married Earl L. Martz on June 14, 1947, in Bellevue, Ky., and he survives, along with children, Kim (Mike) Glock and Mike (Bev) Martz, both of Huntsville, and Scott (Melissa) Martz of Columbus; grandchildren, Greg (Pat) Martz, Amy (Matt) Burns, Mandy (Steve) Oppy, Brian Glock, Emily Martz and Allison Martz; six great-grandchildren; and sisters, Imogene Maxwell of West Liberty and Patricia Shirk of Bellefontaine.
Dorothy and Earl owned and operated IGA stores in Huntsville and Jackson Center for more than 30 years. She was a member of the Huntsville United Methodist Church and the Afaeta Circle of King’s Daughters. She was a former United Way volunteer.
Pastor Bryan Meadows officiates a funeral at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 3, at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, 321 N. Main St., Bellefontaine, with visitation two hours prior. Burial is in Huntsville Cemetery.
