Donald L. Hudson, 104, of West Liberty, passed away at 8:31 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 28, 2017, at the Kenton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born in Springfield on May 13, 1913, a son of the late James Leo and Bessie Goings Hudson. He also was preceded in death by his wife, Maxine Elix Hudson in 2005, and his brother, LaVerne Hudson.
He is survived by a daughter, Sharron (Al) Klahr of Lakeview; two sons, Doug (Jane) Hudson of Lakeview and Mark Hudson of Ft. Worth, Texas; four grandchildren, Henry Hudson of Ft. Worth, Texas, Tyler Wright of Dallas, Texas, Kyle Wright of Columbus and Brad (Liz) Hudson of West Liberty; and four great-grandchildren, Kayla, Luke, Gabbi and Joy Hudson.
Donald graduated from Springfield High School in 1931. In his life he had many careers. He was a butcher, then worked as a tool and die maker, then as an inspector for many years. He loved building and woodworking. He was known to build a canoe, bass boat and crossbows. You name it, he could build it. He also enjoyed fishing, playing pool and poker, all of which he did well to the age of 100.
Pastor David Hafenbrack officiates a service at noon Wednesday, Jan. 3, in the chapel of the Glen Haven Memorial Gardens, 8200 W. National Road, New Carlisle, where calling is one hour prior.
