Russha L. Lemon, 62, of Elkhart, Ind., was charged with domestic violence during a rolling domestic dispute Sunday afternoon.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office initially responded about 4:20 p.m. to the area of U.S. 33 near State Route 292 in reference to the domestic dispute. A caller reported to dispatchers that Lemon and her daughter were in a physical altercation inside a vehicle.
Deputies located the vehicle, but said it then exited U.S. 33 and came to a stop at the Marathon gas station, 1138 N. Main St., Bellefontaine.
Bellefontaine Police Department officers stopped the vehicle there and separated Lemon and her daughter.
The daughter told deputies that she and her mother had been in an argument the previous evening at a family party in West Virginia. Her mother left the party and didn’t return, so this morning, she called her mother and asked if they could go back home to Indiana.
While traveling to Indiana, her daughter said Lemon refused to let her drive, but Lemon did not have a valid driver’s license. She also reportedly was speeding in excess of 100 mph.
Deputies observed redness to the daughter’s chest area and left arm from where Lemon allegedly struck her. Lemon sustained minor skin tears on her forearm after her daughter tried to block her from striking her.
The defendant was placed under arrest and lodged in the Logan County Jail. She also was cited for no operator’s license.
• Taylor L. Smith, 121 S. Main St., DeGraff, was charged with domestic violence and lodged in the jail related to an incident Sunday at her address.
Her sister, Kristi Jones, 35, of the same address, also was issued a summons for domestic violence.
Deputies responded about 7:10 p.m. to the residence on a report of a domestic dispute.
Upon arrival, they met with Jones, who was holding an ice pack against her bottom lip.
Deputies later observed a small cut to her lip.
Jones said the pair had been in a verbal argument that resulted in Smith striking her in the face with a closed fist. The sisters live at the home with their mother.
Smith told deputies that Jones had yelled at her and bumped Smith with her chest, nearly causing her to fall. Smith said she swung and hit Jones in the back of the head.
Smith told deputies that Jones then began punching at her and Smith then began hitting her sister.
Their mother and brother had to separate the two sisters.
During the altercation, Smith said she was struck in the nose, but deputies did not observe any visible injuries.
