Joshua Sloas, 28, and Shawn Connelly, 45, both of Russells Point, each were charged with possession of drugs related to a traffic stop.
About 9:10 p.m. Sunday, officers of the Washington Township officers observed a jeep traveling the roadway without its headlights on in the area of Township Road 239 and U.S. Route 33.
Officers initiated traffic stop identifying the driver as Sloas and the passenger as Connelly.
While speaking with the Sloas, officers observed the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. K9 Bruno was called to the scene and alerted on the driver’s door of the vehicle. Conley also was observed to have a strong odor of marijuana on his person.
Officers conducted a search of the vehicle and discovered on the passenger floorboard a large white crystal rock that tested positive for methamphetamine. Both driver and passenger denied the drugs belonging to them.
A criminal history check on both men was and requested and revealed both have have prior drug convictions on their record, officers said.
Sloas also was cited for driving without headlights.
