Dolores Jean Lawson, 89, of Pickerington and formerly of Bellefontaine, passed away at 8:40 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, 2018, at her residence.
She was born in Keyhole, Ky., on April 1, 1929, a daughter of the late John and Carrie Cooper.
On March 25, 1949, she married Gene Lawson after meeting two weeks earlier on a blind date.
Their marriage lasted 69 years and Gene survives.
She is also survived by four children, Peggy Lawson of Pickerington, Linda Lawson of Cincinnati and Thomas Lawson and Jacalyn (Greg) Clark, both of Bellefontaine; four grandchildren, Thomas (Nikki) Lawson, Aaron Clark, Rachel Clark and Samuel Clark; one great-granddaughter, Donna Lawson and another on the way in January 2019.
She was preceded in death by 12 siblings.
Dolores was a homemaker, raised her children, and then went to work for Siemens in Urbana and retired in 1986. Before moving away, she was a member of the Goshen Friends Church, Zanesfield, where she enjoyed singing solos. She enjoyed reading the Bible, growing flowers, and spending time with her children and especially her grandchildren.
After retirement, she and her husband enjoyed flea marketing in Florida and West Chester.
Visitation is from noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 7, at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, 101 Zanesfield Road, West Liberty.
Funeral services will be private. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in West Liberty.
