Jerry D. Lewis, 50, of DeGraff, was charged today with criminal trespassing, resisting arrest and persistent disorderly conduct.
Around 1:50 a.m., an officer of the Bellefontaine Police Department on duty at Mry Rutan Hospital was called to the emergency room regarding a disruptive patient. Lewis began yelling when a physician wrapped up any treatment.
Lewis was demanding more treatment from the staff for his pain. He continued to be disruptive and refused to sign or accept his discharge paperwork.
Other officers arrived on scene and he was ordered out of the hospital. Lewis reluctantly gathered his personal items and exited the room only to turn around to loudly curse and challenge officers.
As they moved to arrest him, he tried to pull away and grabbed on to a nursing station counter top. He was taken to the floor and successfully restrained in handcuffs for transport to the Logan County Jail.
