Two people were transported from a July 29 crash at Chillicothe Avenue and Madriver Street.
Savannah Knasel, 15, of Bellefontaine, was transported by a Robinaugh squad to Mary Rutan Hospital for treatment of injuries while Robert H. Rhoades, 77, of Belle Center, was transported by a Bellefontaine squad to MRH for treatment of his injuries.
A photograph of the 10:55 a.m. crash was featured in Friday’s edition of the Examiner.
Officers report Savannah was operating a northbound car and failed to stop for a red light. The car hit the rear passenger side of an eastbound pickup truck operated by Rhoades. The pickup spun as did the car.
As the vehicles spun, the rear ends of each came off the ground. The car was about to roll onto it driver’s side when it hit a curb and landed on its wheels. The pickup hit a utility pole and flipped on it driver’s side.
The car came to a rest a half block away in Court Avenue.
There were five children ages 6 to 10 in the car with Savannah. None reported any injuries.
Savannah was charged with a red light violation, no operator’s license and two counts of not using child restraint systems for two children ages 6 and 7 who were not in booster seats.
Officers report she was babysitting the children at the time.
Andrew Keller, 56, of 1600 S. Detroit St., Apt. 31, was issued a traffic citation for wrongful entrustment for allowing Savannah to use his estranged wife’s car. Keller is a neighbor to Savannah and he told officers he thought the girl was 16.
Damage to the vehicles was heavy.
