David C. Crain, 47, of 1052 Heritage Court, Bellefontaine, was charged with domestic violence and menacing Friday as a result of an incident with his girlfriend at her residence, 53 Sugarbush Way, Zanesfield.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office met with his girlfriend at 205 Sugarbush Way about 9:50 p.m., and were informed that Crain had taken off on foot. About 11:25 p.m., dispatchers received a 911 call from Crain reporting he was lost in the woods. He said his glasses were broken and he was having difficulty finding his way back.
Deputies and K9 Thor searched the area and located the defendant.
Before he was located, his girlfriend told deputies she had confronted him about stealing her prescription medical and he allegedly threw cooking grease on her, resulting in minor burn marks on her forehead. She said he then attempted to choke her and threw her against a window, and she struck her wrist on the window. Tri-Valley EMS responded and checked her at the scene.
He told deputies he had consumed a small amount of alcohol and stated he did not steal his girlfriend’s medication. Crain also made Golf verbal threats against her while en route to the Logan County Jail, deputies said.
Golf course damage reported
Deputies responded about 8 p.m. Saturday to Liberty Hills Golf Course, 665 Township Road 190, Bellefontaine, on a report of a vehicle that had entered the property and heavily damaged the turf at hole three. Investigation continues.
Driver cited for unsecured load
Shane R. Christy, 39, of Maplewood, was cited for unsecured load as a result of a non-injury crash April 6 on Township Road 23.
Deputies report he was operating a northbound pickup hauling a trailer in the 4500 block of T.R. 23 about 5:20 p.m. The vehicle drove over a bridge and the trailer became disconnected and struck a ditch and a utility box.
