David Rhoades passed away suddenly on October 7, 2022, at Grand River Hospital in Kitchener, Ontario, at the age of 78.
Beloved husband of Diane Rhoades (nee Schearer) for 55 years; dear father of Don (Michelle), Deb (Gary Maier), and Denise (Harry Lutz); devoted grandfather to Hillary Maier (Stuart Cheyne), Richard, Allie, and Jess; will be greatly missed by his siblings Donna Stewart (Bob), Dale (Valerie), Dan (Lynda), and Cindy Wiant (Tim).
Predeceased by parents Cecil Rhoades and Julia Brill and brother Dean.
Dave was raised in Ohio and moved to Canada in 1970 to build silos with Advanced Farming Systems for 10 years, then his passion for the floral industry blossomed. He was a proud partner of South-Western Floral in Waterloo, Ontario, for over 30 years.
In his younger years, Dave was an avid bowler, golfer, and baseball player. He later took on gardening as a hobby and visiting Country Gardens Trailer Park. Dave was a selfless man who loved his family beyond measure. He enjoyed watching his favorite sports teams which included Ohio State and Bluejays and traveling.
Dave’s family will receive relatives and friends from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, October 16, at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467. Cremation to follow.
