Luke L. Duprey, 28, of 4450 State Route 287, West Liberty, was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs as a result of a non-injury crash Friday evening at state routes 235 and 47.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office report he was operating an eastbound pickup on S.R. 47 approaching S.R. 235 about 8:20 p.m. and struck the rear of an eastbound sport utility vehicle operated by Sherry L. Coy, 35, of Rosewood, that was stopped at the intersection.
No injuries were reported, and the drivers were wearing their seat belts. Damage was light to both vehicles.
While speaking with the drivers, deputies observed that Duprey showed signs of intoxication. He admitted to consuming several beers after leaving work that day.
Field sobriety tests were administered and the defendant was transported to the Logan County Jail, where he submitted to a breath test, with two samples of 0.192.
His vehicle was towed from the scene, and glass pipes with suspected marijuana residue were recovered. He was also issued a summons for possession of drug paraphernalia and was cited for failure to maintain assured clear distance ahead. He was released to a sober driver.
• Brian K. Todd, 51, of Beavercreek, was charged with OVI related to a hit-skip non-injury crash Friday.
Deputies responded about 5:10 p.m. to the area of the Dollar General, 13797 N. State Route 235, Lakeview, on a report of a truck pulling a bass boat that had struck a sign in the area.
A witness told deputies that the driver now was at the Fuel Stop Gas Station, 13365 N. S.R. 235, Lakeview. Deputies located Todd and his vehicle at a gas pump at that location.
While speaking with the driver, deputies observed signs of intoxication and located an open can of beer in the center console. Todd admitted to consuming several beers that day.
He submitted to field sobriety tests and was transported to the Logan County Jail, where he refused to take a blood alcohol content test. He was also cited for failure to control and received an open container citation, and was released to a family member.
