United Way of Logan County has announced plans to host its annual signature corporate volunteer event, Community Care Day, Friday, Aug. 28, coinciding with the 2020 campaign kickoff.
The event previously had been scheduled for May 15, but was canceled at that time because of the coronavirus health crisis.
For the fifth annual Community Care Day, the United Way is coordinating hundreds of volunteers from area workplaces, churches and civic organizations to collaborate for meaningful group volunteer projects that will make a difference in the community.
Activities begin Aug. 28 at the Bellefontaine Regional Airport, 3700 W. State Route 47, where participants will check in and can partake of a complimentary breakfast. Each volunteer also will receive a T-shirt to wear while working that day.
Hands-on opportunities for volunteers of all skill levels and interests are being organized in advance throughout Logan County for teams to select for completion.
“Whether you like to bake or build, plant or paint, get clean or get dirty, there will be a job for you on Community Care Day. Projects will take place at social service agencies and area parks,” representatives said.
Groups are asked to register before Friday, Aug. 14, by completing the volunteer form on the United Way of Logan County’s website, www.uwlogan.org.
By late-August, participants will be able to select from a list of available projects one or more that matches your interest, skill set and availability.
By Aug. 19, volunteers should know what, where, and with whom they will be working and what you may need to bring Aug. 28. Some projects may require volunteers to bring their own tools, such as ladders, hedge trimmers, hammers, gloves etc.
In addition, area agencies and parks are invited to submit project requests for volunteer work by Friday, July 31, at the United Way’s website.
Examples of projects include: spring cleaning, painting, yard work/landscaping, sorting, “handyman” and small construction projects, assembly line” projects, hanging posters and other hands-on opportunities.
