Logan County’s new commercial building inspection program has generally been met with open arms in its first year of operations, Logan County Commissioners report.
The Logan County Building Authority, which previously had oversight of residential building code in the unincorporated areas of Logan County, expanded its services in 2015 to include commercial projects and began marketing itself as a resource for Logan County’s 11 villages to utilize as well, Commissioner Dustin Wickersham said.
Prior to this change, all commercial building projects were overseen by the state, the commissioner said.
“Without us having a commercial building department, every jurisdiction would still have to go through the state,” he said. “We didn’t expand government, we brought it local.”
