A motorist in a Monday crash told officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department he was blinded by the rising sun shining through his fogged windshield and unknowingly crossed lanes while turning from Wright Street onto Kristina Drive.
Drew Nye, 18, of Bellefontaine, was cited for driving left of center in the 8 a.m. head-on collision that injured him; his passenger, Corrine Thomas, 18, of Bellefontaine; and the other driver, Donna Cook, 68, of Bellefontaine.
Mr. Nye and Ms. Thomas were transported by a Bellefontaine squad to Mary Rutan Hospital while Ms. Cook was transported by a Robinaugh squad. All were treated for their injuries and released.
Mr. Nye told officers he had just turned on the defrost of his car and it fogged the windshield as he rounded the corner. He thought he stayed in his lane.
Ms. Thomas was cited for not using a safety belt.
Damage was heavy to the cars.
