Cristine R. Hanenkrat, 102, of West Liberty, passed away Friday morning, Feb. 2, 2018, at Green Hills Care Center in West Liberty.
She was born in West Liberty on July 22, 1915, to the late Alva Earl and Ina Mann Rupert. Cristine married Alfred E. Hanenkrat on June 21, 1936, in West Liberty and he preceded her in death in 1989.
She was also preceded in death by siblings, Gretchen Rupert, Celia Stafford, Patrice McAdams, Rodger Rupert, William Allen Rupert, Neil F. Rupert and Richard K. Rupert.
Cristine was a 1933 graduate of West Liberty High School and was a member of the West Liberty Presbyterian Church. She was an amazing cook and enjoyed sewing and making flower arrangements. Cristine was a member of the American Daffodil Society and the Ohio Association of Garden Clubs, with both of which she was an accredited judge and traveled nationally judging flower shows, fairs and other contests. She was also a member of the Shiloh Springs Garden Club.
Cristine is survived by her sister, Sue Hostetler of West Liberty; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pastor Keith Landis officiates the funeral service at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 6, at the West Liberty Presbyterian Church, 215 W. Columbus St., where visitation is one hour prior to the service.
Burial is in Fairview Cemetery, West Liberty.
