Bellefontaine’s girls basketball team found itself behind early against visiting St. Marys Memorial on Tuesday in a 64-34 non-league loss.
The Chieftains fall to 1-7 on the season as the Roughriders improve to 6-2.
St. Marys led 11-6 after the opening quarter and had a 19-5 run in the second quarter. That boosted the Roughriders to a 30-11 halftime advantage.
The Roughriders upped their lead to 27 points (51-24) after three quarters. St. Marys closed out the game with a 13-10 effort in the fourth quarter.
Kailynn Kenner led the Chiefs with 10 points, while Tayteum Vigansky and Carmen Shumaker each had nine points.
In junior varsity action, St. Marys defeated Bellefontaine 41-25. Parker Penhorwood, Karys Varner and Payton Campbell each had six points.
Bellefontaine hosts Springfield on Monday in a non-league game.
