Bellefontaine’s baseball team received a standout pitching effort from senior Tyler Jones to help put away visiting Tippecanoe 5-0 on Monday in a Central Buckeye Conference matchup at Blue Jacket Park.
The Chieftains, who are ranked 20th in the latest Division I state poll, are now 17-5 overall and 10-4 in the CBC Kenton Trail standings.
The Red Devils drop their record to 13-7 overall and 9-4 in the Kenton Trail.
Jones was stellar on the mound for BHS, firing a three-hitter with eight strikeouts and two walks.
Bellefontaine got off to a fast start with three runs in the first inning. That was more than enough offense as Jones and the BHS defense refused to let the Red Devils light the scoreboard.
