Bellefontaine’s girls golf team battled a tought Division I field Wednesday during the sectional tournament at The Golf Club at Yankee Trace in Dayton.
While the Chiefs were not able to advance as a team, Samantha McLaughlin was able to move on as an individual.
McLaughlin fired an 81 to finish eighth overall out of 95 golfers and earned the second individual district berth.
The top four teams and top four individuals not on a qualifying team moved on to the district tournament Centerville won the district championship with a score of 304, Xeina was runner-up with 367, Greenville was third with 368 and Tippecanoe took fourth with 369. Bellefontaine finished seventh as a team with 386.
Also competing for the Chieftains were Kayla Watkins with an 87, Madison Taylor with a 100, Megan Beaverson with a 118 and Anastasia Hiatt with a 128.
