The Indian Lake High School Music Department is pleased to present the musical “Bye Bye Birdie” on Friday, March 4, and Saturday, March 5, in the Wilma Jacobs Performing Arts Auditorium at 8 p.m. each evening.
When the draft selects rock star Conrad Birdie, his fans are devastated, but none more than struggling songwriter Albert Peterson, whose song Birdie was just about to record.
Albert’s longtime girlfriend, Rosie, pushes Albert to write a new tune that Birdie will perform on television to a fan selected in a contest. The scheme works, with young Ohio teenager Kim McAfee declared the winner, but no one has counted on the jealous wrath of her boyfriend.
The colorful, 1950s-era musical is directed by Tracey Notestine and choreographed by Rebecca Taylor with music direction by Jason Fauley, sets by Ed Rogers, and lighting by Gabe Reichert. The cast features seniors Beau Young, Callie Notestine, Nathan Huffman, Allison Culp and Rachel Wahl, along with juniors Mason Beres, Marah Reames and Regan Ross, sophomores Brody Parsell and Grant McPherson and freshman Daniel Wahl.
All seats are $10 and tickets are sold exclusively online at http://ils-k12.org/athletic__activity_director/ticket_box_office. Sales open Feb. 19.
“Bye Bye Birdie” is presented through special arrangement with, and music and dialogue materials furnished by concordtheatricals.com and MTPit music.
