The Perry Township Events Committee has named Bonnie Brose as the 2021 grand marshal for the Independence Day Celebration, slated for Saturday, July 10.
Ms. Brose was the longtime organizer and planner of past Independence Day celebrations for the East Liberty community before stepping down in 2019. She will be accompanied by her sister, Paula Mathys, who assisted her throughout the years.
The grand marshal will be honored by leading the annual Independence Day parade in East Liberty, beginning at noon Saturday.
The parade ends at Perry Park, where a number of activities are planned, including children’s games, pony rides, youth baseball games, vendors alley, car revue, cake walk and food trucks.
Festivities conclude Saturday evening with the fireworks show at dusk.
As a member of the PTEC, Ms. Brose also oversaw the Firemen’s Festival Street Dance, community-wide yard sales, fundraising events, Christmas tree lighting program and many other activities, representatives noted.
